I'm using one now and the modification wasn't difficult at all. Mine has the coil in cap but you can also use standard GM no-coil caps (all of these were based on GM products) if you want a smaller looking distributor. You can replace the guts using GM parts if you wish, also. Although the one I'm using was bought in 1997 and is still working just fine.

Would it work if you weren’t using that red distributor cap?
