The motor ran before I pulled it so i know I had a good foundation. Again didn't do anything major, basically just a nice refresh. Looked ok when I took it apart, no major scoring or damage to any of the major part. Only thing I found was a broken piston ring.
Had the machine shop do all the basic stuff, deck the black and head, polish the crank, reconditioned the rods, bored over 0.020".
New pistons, rings, valve springs, exhaust valves, cam bearings, rod bearings, crank bearings. Was able to reuse the existing cam and lifters, we didn't see any excessive ware that would cause us concern.
Not sure when the motor was painted red but you could see the original yellow under all the crud, so I went with Summit performance yellow single stage urethane over a DTM epoxy primer.
Still a few more parts to add before I get it fired up but it looks good setting back on the frame.
