It's a bit late now but perhaps others may benefit: I have used open-gear-grease between spring leaves. It dries hard. There are two benefits: it reduces wear on the spring leaves and it improves the ride noticeably. There is still more than enough friction in the spring pack so you don't have to add shocks, though I did on my 1-ton. That helped even more.
