Does it have to be specifically a 1953 pump? I thought any 216 pump would do as long as the pulley was the right belt width for one's balancer.
Yes you are correct but to expand your statement and to avoid confusion, I’ll add this, copied from a previous post by “Pre '68 Dave”, the inventor of the adaptor plate.
With the relocation plate you must use:
1941-52 for 5/8" belt.
1953-54 pass or 1953-55 first truck, for 3/8" belt.
