Bill, after the parade and the dust settles on you cooling system project, consider installing a coolant filter. You can use a remote filter base and a couple of METAL quarter turn valves and plumb it all into the heater circuit. Wix makes spin on filters with sacrificial zinc sized for various engines. I think the part number I used was a Dodge/Cummins application. Under the radiator cap inspections shows squeeky clean tubes after 2 years and 10,000 miles.
I’ve thought about doing that.
Also have an idea to use a strong-arse magnet in some sort of plumbing tee…..to grab the super-fine iron particles floating about. Probably plunged into the heater circuit.
