Good point, Jerry. I learned it this way: You'll likely never jerk the load off the back by accelerating (unless you completely goofed up securing it ...). But you could end up with it on top of you in a sudden stop. I usually make sure my loads are doubly secured at the back. In a sudden stop, I don't want 50,000 lbs of excavator joining me in the cab.
