If you lay your primer and single stage “system”per the product DataSheets you will have all the UV protection you need and can cut/polish out the finish. A clear means cleaning the gun( or ideally a different gun)/mixing the clear and shooting multiple more coats…
For me that only provides the opportunity for more debris in the paint, more cumulative orange peel, plus the opportunity to sand/polish thru the clear.
Plus touchup/redo on that 1 darn piece will be that much more involved to redo with clear there….….single stage can put out a darn good and durable finish…..always has when laid down & polished correctly..
Out here in nor cal I am able to get PPG Shopline primers and Delfleet Essential single stage components, consistently works well, and hey… it’s truck paint!
