Another approach not so scary....... there was a bell housing made by GM for "certain" trucks built with a 261 and they had a right hand side clutch opening and operated hydraulically....... The time frame seems to indicate 1960 to maybe 1962....... and it is set up to use SM420 as a bolt on.......
Does any one have an idea of what model. year, special purpose, actual part number, etc. that would confirm the specific existence and narrow down a search.
I find Chev dealers typically uninterested BUT may be a secondary transmission shop rebuilding trannies would be better........ that is 60 years ago.... how time flies......
