However by 63' these would have been very unlikely and hydraulic pumps were run by PTO's on main transmissions. Your statement that it was C60 with a 16' body makes it all the more unlikely that it would have such a unit as 16' farm bodies are single axles. Dad's truck probably used a 4 speed transmission with a 2 speed rear as that was the common Chevy truck of the day, in fact I had such a truck myself except it was a GMC. Since you were "pretty young" it seems more likely to me that what you recall turning was really the PTO driveline. Natuarally I can't be sure but this is the most reasonable explanation in my considered opinion. | | |
