Good to know can safely go 80 overbore if engine is opened up again. Engine has 100K miles since rebuild, still with normal oil consumption.
Giving benefit of doubt to the machinist some 40+ years ago, he was likely erring on the safe side. I would hesitate to cast aspersions!
