It didn’t help that the Goodyear tires I bought were horribly unbalanced and required a ridiculous amount of weight.
Generals in the 80's and 90's were like that. Liked to separate, too. I guess the tire + labor (body work, whatever) was cheaper than buying quality tires. Or, we were locked in to a contract we had to wait to expire.
