So my block has a pour date of April 1946 back numbered to a 1939 block of 838941. to be a April 1936 the block number was nonexistent at the time as 37, the first year for a 216 was 838710. The serial number beginning with K was stamped carelessly on my replacement block by the installer... Agreed that parts numbers are simply replacement possibilities as listed in the Master parts books! thanks for all the sleuthing! Anyone have the link for the history/evolution of the 216 engine? I was thinking I read, or dreamed that the rope rear seal was an improvement in '39 and '37 only had a slinger.
Larry Old man᠁Old truck᠁neither one goes very fast. All you need in life is TIME, PATIENCE and MONEY. If you are missing one component, you'll need an abundance of the others two.
