I spent 3 years in the US ARMY, but during that time I was in training for all but 1 year and that was spent in Viet Nam. During that time I only ran across a soldier I spent time with. He was an e6 and then I met him after he had a tour of Viet Nam and was at OCS with me. The second time was at Red Stone Arsenal, Alabama after he came back from Viet Nam as a Captain. I said all this to say that because of the smaller size of the Marines and the Air Force, you can make friendships and see them occasionally. My brother served 23 years in the Air Force and occasionally served again with buddies from basics. I visited with him and his family from time to time over the years and that was how they were introduced, there previous duty stations.
