Wellllll . . . . it appears it was the condenser. I pulled the old one off (it came with the new distributor I put on last year) and tested it. Appeared fine on the multimeter; it did that exact same thing of jumping up on the Ohm meter to eventually settle at 0. Jon G's fancy condensers did the same when I tested them. Anyway, I had the thing off so might as well put on one of Jon's and sure enough the truck kicked right off. Drives like it has another 20hp.
