What you need to do is identify the battey feed for your new harness and put the ammeter in series with it so all of the electricty flowing in and out of the battery goes through it.
If that explanation is not sufficient for you, I would recommend getting some hands-on help because you can make a real mess and cause significant issues if you don't hook it up properly.
That assumes that you have not upgraded to a high output alternator or high-current accessories. If you have, the ammeter might not be able to safely operate. I have never seen a solid, documentes number for the max current on those ammeters. If anyone has one, I would be quite interested in its source. | | |
