Part of the units that were part of the 9th Infantry was a tank unit station at Firebase Black Horse so called because of the prancing black horse insignia arm patch. The tanks churned up a lot of sand and snakes were a real problem. One soldier came out of the shower and a snake bit him on the ankle, I think it was some sort of viper which is very deadly. Not being out in the jungle a corpsman was able to save him.
