My high school auto shop had one of these! To this day I don't know why the shop teacher wouldn't let any of us use it. Maybe he was afraid of it breaking and he couldn't get parts for it? And I was the kid whom he'd tell other students to ask for help if he was busy, so it wasn't that he didn't think I could operate shop equipment.
