I recently bought a '48 pickup with some updates, including a Mustang II front end which needs a little work. Yesterday I tried to install the front shocks and realized the lower control is at a sharp downward angle from the frame and makes it impossible to connect the shock at the bottom. Doing a little research online, I learned the lower control arm should be close to parallel to the ground when the truck is sitting on the wheels. I can, presumably, make that happen with a shorter spring, but that will lower the truck way too much. I'm told it has drop spindles, so I'm thinking stock, non-drop spindles will get it back up where it belongs. I'm sure lots of people have been through this and I'm wondering if someone can give me a ballpark spec on springs; free length and rate. Also, if I'm headed in the right direction.
Thanks,
Craig
