I'm not sure on how to attach a picture to this posting but I'll attempt it.
When I submerged the sending unit in a bucket of water it floated to the top as I raised it out of the water the float went totally down
So I assume that the arm and float are working correctly.
Is it a possibility that the wires connected to the gas gauge are reversed? Asking for a friend
Do you have any suggestions on how I can raise and lower while just sitting inside tank without being secured? Maybe a string?
