The zerk on the torque tube is for gearlube. Do not use grease. You usually only need to fill it after you've had it apart, after that, the transmission leaking into it tends to keep the U-joint lubricated. 35 Trucker will correct me if I'm wrong, but the 36 backing plates could be completely different than the 35 due to the use of hydraulic brakes starting in 1936.
