It wouldn't be terribly difficult to build a spacer block with a built-in pushrod running in a brass bushing to contact the cam lobe, and shape it to allow a small block V8 fuel pump to be bolted to the outboard end of the adapter. It might be that the aftermarket V8 pumps aren't any better that the stovebolt stuff, but they're probably less expensive, and available at the local FLAPS without making a special order!
