| | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,192 Insomniac | | Insomniac Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,192 | My Lexus RX has an electric operated e-brake. It engages the brake when you move it into park. There is an override switch you can use when stopped on a hill; I have never used that switch.
First time I encountered an electric e-brake was in Scotland when I rented a Vauxhall car. We got in the car and I started it up. Fran asked "What are you waiting for?" when I didn't start driving. "I can't find the brake - there is no lever or foot pedal!" Finally found the switch to disengage it - of course, it had some odd looking symbol on the switch which didn't help.
