Fibonachu asked about the durability of a fiberglass patch. I have had polyester based repairs fail over time - but never have I had an epoxy/ fiberglass failure.
klhanson mentioned epoxy as an option; the difference in adhesion is significant- epoxy really bonds, much better than polyester. Polyester on polyester bods quite well, but when bonding different materials epoxy is quite superior.
Everyone seems to agree that JBWELD bonds securely to metal surfaces.
JBWELD is a structurally reinforced epoxy.
Fiberglass wetted out with epoxy resin is also a structurally reinforced epoxy.
