Failure mode...well, usually you would know they were preparing to fail when you saw one side working while the other side wasn't, both only operating within a certain arc of their sweep...or you might hear them howling or chattering. Almost like if you tried to feed a plastic spoon through a pencil sharpener. But when they were new they were marvelously quiet and nice. And for occasional use vehicles, I think they might be fine.
