If these work like a late 50's Corvette then I'd be hesitant... only my personal opinion. I helped repair that system on a 58 Vette this year and it did not seem durable (hence the need to repair - and we were clearly not the first in there). it was also a bit of a mind boggler to lie on your back and sort out the cable routing.
From my perspective there are a lot of delicate moving parts on that system. My 0.02 only of course.
Not saying this wont work in this retrofit application, just a caution.
