One with nothing but a mechanical advance and the other with a vacuum advance. You need and want vacuum advance, for a lot of reasons, including that the motor was designed to function its best with a combination of mechancal advance and vacuum advance. http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/tech/vacuum-advance-and-why-you-want-it/
