I searched the archives on this but couldn't find anything, so here is a dumb question.
I got a chance today to install new brake parts on one side of the rear of the '52. After assembly I wanted to get a good understanding of how the parking brake system actually works. It's easy to see what happens on engagement, but I'm wondering what actually causes the tension to be removed from the cable after disengagement.
Is it just the top and bottom springs that hold the 2 shoes tensioned? There is a small spring on the horizontal rod connected to the curved parking brake rod, but that really doesn't produce much pressure. Just curious.
