On these old rig the a big ail bubble will form at the top of the tank / filler neck, pump doesn't see pressure to shut off. Slowing down flow will help. Had a small tube attached to the top of the tank, going up to top of the filler neck. Allows air to to escape. Still need to slow flow down towards full but helps.
