My 4-53T came from a 1978 GMC 6500 dump truck. I bought the whole thing for about 1/3 the core value of the engine, and then sold the leftovers.
The truck and engine only had 84,000 miles and the engine was never messed with inside. I drove it home about 8 hours and it ran great. I changed the pickup around to turn the oil pan around. Had the turbo rebuilt although it may not have needed it. I need to replace the blower drive gasket that involves removing the blower, so I will rebuild it when I have it off, only about $45 in parts. Other than that it is as I drove it home, except for the steam cleaning and scrubing and paint. I will wear it out in my truck before I rebuild it.
