One thing that is diff on this type, is use of a spacer between the rear duals. One wheel is turned around, slips way on hub, put on a spacer, then outer wheel just slips a small distance onto the hub. There is a bumped up rim on one side for the lugs to catch on.
Probly value in engine if a runner, but hard to sell big truck axles or chassis parts. BTDT, or tried I should say. Ended up cutting up for scrap! Cost more in torch gas than I got in scrap price! Body should be same in many ways as smaller trucks, maybe dash gauges and floor pan are diff for heavier usage trucks.
nice good more info wow appreciated
yeah the cab and doors are the same as the small trucks except for the front bottom corner cut off at angle, like usual
im just stuck on what to do, or if i should get this one or not, and if i do then what i should do with it,
i looked up the 50 series `68 chevy 327 2bbl engine specs and wow 280 net torque rating, dang i like that, more than the 70s crappy smog 350 engines and such,
but i still would hate to just buy the 68 for parts etc, but if i kept it then id have to find new tires and get paperwork figured out on it and it has no bed, but new rockers so a nice cab and such, and well it runs and drives
but then scrap metal is up to 100 or 125 a ton nowadays currently and so i could get a good 2/3 of my $ right back out of it after yanking the 327 and some of the 4 speed parts and some interior/body stuff
but... hate to do that to it, but thats what the guy who has the truck now is gonna end up doing to it, so..
a dilemma,
hum
cant make up my mind,
earlier today i came within a few blocks away from it and almost stopped to give hi the $ for it and then i didnt, just kept on driving
what to do, hmmm
if i knew i could get good tires for it without having to win the lottery then id probably keep it as a work truck,
but.,,.
thanks for anything else
at least i learned some interesting info
