OK, but maybe I'm missing something in your explanation. I was not referring to a coil with a built in resistor. You need a separate external ballast resistor.
And the external resistor should not be mounted on the coil or the engine as there is too much heat produced.
It should be mounted on the firewall so the heat can be dissipated.
