I now have over 5000 kms on my rebuilt 51 Canadian 1 ton. I did rebuild and try the split rims, the ride was wobbly, but as your aware, you cannot balance the split rims. So I got rims from a 1989 ford 1 ton van at the wreckers, I put LT285/75R16 rubber on and they sit 33" high which was the same as the original height, they clear the tye rod arms with 1/2" clearance, then I had to pull the front of the rear fenders out a out a bit to achieve 1" clearance. I simply used a hydraulic bottle jack, (inside the fender) on the forward section of the rear fender, there is no noticeable difference in appearance. The truck drives great. To tighten up the steering box I used red grease, just fill the steering box with your grease gun. You have to fill it right full after driving it for a while. Cheers, Andymcstalbert
