I'm wanting to work on the interior of my truck a little bit to make it more comfortable. Right now its loud, bouncy, hot and smelly. I know most of this is the nature of the beast but I want it to be more tolerable.
Currently there is nothing 'soft' in the cab except the the bench seat - no firewall pad, no headliner, no floor covering, no visors. It seems like I should be able to make a significant improvement to it. However, I don't want to dress it all up and have it get ruined by the elements or rodents. Its very much a rough farm truck.
My plan of attack is a firewall pad, rubber floor mat, headliner and door seals. Additionally my vent windows don't close completely are cracked and missing latches. Lastly, lots of open holes in the cab that need plugged.
1. Fix the vent windows, I think new glass and latches plus material that goes between the glass and vent window frame. (Whatever that is called?)
2. Door seals
3. Plug the cab holes (Some kind of rubber grommet plug)
_. I might repaint the interior to originalish colors.
4. Firewall pad
5. Add some peel and stick sound deadening
6. Floor mat
7. Headliner
Any suggestions to products to use for the above?
Any other things I should do to improve the livability in the cab?
I'm also concerned my expectations may be a little high - I know there are plenty of very high end customs done that have really nice carpeted leather interiors that obviously stay dry and rodent/dirt proof - I'm not after a high end luxury interior like that but I want it to stay dry and clean - befitting what I would consider a daily driver (less A/C).
