I decided to not use epoxy primer, I'm using Rustoleum rusty metal primer on the interior. I have encountered a couple spots that bubbled or cracked, may have been due contamination. Overall I'm happy with the results. I still need to figure out what plays nice with the product I will use on the exterior. Robert gave the best advice here to check product compatibility.
