Unfortunately, the locking pin is tapered, so you won't be able to drive it out from the end opposite the nut. Maybe a 2-jaw puller could push it out.
As far as getting the king pin back up a bit. Stick your bolt you're using for a drift on top of a jack, put some tension on it by raising the jack (a screw type would be best), and give the top of the axle a few love taps with the BFH.
And remember to keep those thumbs out of the way. eek
