I don't think he's tried everything else yet. Last report was he was waiting for warmer weather.

I agree that removing rivets isn't hard, but if it can be avoided, isn't that the best approach?
My impression was that the shock was going to be trashed anyway. Putting a new one on won't be impacted by rusty fasteners.
