If you could get a pair of vice grips (assuming the nut is rounded) on the nut, with the lower mount loose, you could turn the body of the shock to tighten it and break the mounting stud off. If the nut is OK, and as Evan said, you could get a 6point box wrench on there, you could do the same thing.
