Thank you, Jerry! For the idea and the detailed explanation. I had no idea the points in a regulator moved differently from the points in most other things. (I just repaired our Cuisinart toaster the other day, and I had no idea they had contact points, 2 sets of them, and that was the solution to that problem. Didn't know they use electromagnets to hold the plunger down, either. The older I get, the dumber I feel.) Electric and all it's formulas has always stumped me, and I've spent most of my life working with all kinds of electricity. It's almost like I missed "that week in school" when I was supposed to learn the basics of the subject. I didn't get out there today to check anything since it's been wet, nasty and cold all day.
