It looks like you have the wrong throwout bearing installed The "released" position of the throwout arm should be near the front of the slot. If the bearing is too short, the forked end of the arm is going to have to pivot forward a long way to put the bearing into contact with the clutch fingers, which puts the outboard end too close to the shift rods..
