The fan in this swap is just a small issue. The general question is about overall swap issues. Asking about pit falls and such. Any kind of fan will work if it keeps the temp at a good degree. Mechanical or electrical. On a bigger motor swap on a older truck design, you have to fit the motor and trans properly first. Firewall fit, trans and motor mounts, level motor and pinion angle. Then that will dictate other choices including what kind of fan and all other clearance issues. All found by initial mock up. Whether you like or dislike a certain fan or whether you use two fans may be dictated by the space conditions. This is the case before us here not a discussion of fan types.............yet smile All opinions are valuable whether popular or not. An opinion from a person with long time real world experience is top notch. As in the case of MNSmith.

It is good to keep in mind all of the design factors while doing a swap but you can't figure it all out on paper. If you decide you want a 454 and a certain tranny, put it in there with jacks and cherry pickers and chains and clamps and wooden blocks and see what it looks like..................it will all come out in the wash.
