My guess is you are real close.
I think you can use any 18 bolt 235 head on a 261, not just the later/common "848" higher compression heads".
All of those 235 heads should have the 6 extra coolant passages drilled in them (at a slight angle, I recall - maybe someone will post a link to that drilling procedure/instructions?).
