Maybe you can bolt a piece of angle on top of the frame rail and attach top box bolt(s) to it. Taller than the triangle piece. I did that sort of thing on a DIY install. Don't use the little triangle. Take a close look at the CPP kit. Copy that somewhat. Switch the mind set, move to copy the CPP parts that make sense.
