ON my 1954 I replaced the alternator twice because it was keeping the battery charged. I then found out that some alternators will not activate until the RPMs are at a certain level so with my lower gearing my RPMS in town were not high enough to for the alternator to work. So I bought a new one from Jegs that would work. I would tell you the rpm but I don't remember because I have OMS.
