So curiosity got the better of me and I tore down the 305 I have. Everything mics out standard. Very little wear. Block decodes as a 78-79 casting. The heads decode as 80-86 Lt. Truck. PO says it came out of an 84 C-10. My question is whether this is the original engine or a rebuild. Would a 78-79 block be used in an 84 production? The heads agree with the model year for sure. | | |
