Add image(s) to a post

1. Full Editor
    Any time you want to add image(s) to a post, you have to use the Full Editor. The Full Editor is automatically opened when you start a new thread. However, when you reply to an existing post, the Quick Reply is the default. If you want to add images to your post, you have to switch to Full Editor. Look at the bottom of the Quick Reply box. You will see the three buttons. Select "Use Full Editor."



2. Attachment Manager
    Now, in Full Editor mode, look to the lower left-hand portion of that area. You will see a "paper clip" with a line (see image on left). That is the link to Attachment Manager.
   Click on that link and it will bring up a new box (see image on right).


Now that you are in the Attachment Manager location, we have several steps that make up the basis for getting those images in your post.

3. Add your caption
    Type in a caption that describes the image. As short or as long (up to 250 characters) as you feel inclined. DON'T HIT ANY BUTTONS YET!! You are far from done! (We think this is the spot that messes up so many folks. So, keep reading! )




4. Select the image - Two options here: "Select" or "Drag and drop" - Know where your images are.
    You've added the caption for the first image. Look below to the "Select A File to Attach" button. When you hit that button, you'll get a pop up window. (In the image below, you'll see I have my pictures on my Desktop.)
    Select one image (the file name will appear in that "File Upload" box). Hit "Open" and the image moves from your source to the forum post. You may notice a rotating circle while the image uploads. Do not do anything until that goes away. This image below is big but covers a lot of stuff.


When the upload is complete, you'll see it drop down as an "Attached File." (See this image)



Please note: the popup window on your computer may appear differently than this one. It may say "Choose" or something similar. It will depend on your operating system, file manager, image source.


BUT, DON'T HIT THE DONE BUTTON JUST YET!



5. More images?
    You can continue to add images to the post (before you hit the Done button). You should still already be at Full Screen and in the Attachment Manager location.

1. Write your Caption first
2. Select image
3. Repeat (up to 10 images)

    IF you hit the Done button by accident, fear not. You are still in the Full Screen location. Go back down to the Attachment Manager link, and continue where you left off -- number 1, 2 and 3.

    If you've loaded up all the images you want (limit is 10 per post), NOW you can hit that Done button.


BUT WAIT .... What happened?

6. DONE but not yet posted.
    After you've hit the Done button, you are taken back to your New Reply screen. Make sure you have typed some text in that box. If you want to preview your post, you will not see the images. Everything, including your images will only appear when you hit the "Post" button.


POST-SCRIPTS

    Now here it get a little odd but that's the way the UBB software is set up. There are different ways to add images; this is just one, using a PC, but the basics are the same. The differences come in when choosing images -- with copy and paste, drag and drop, file location, from a cell phone or other device. We'll explain all that. For now ... basics. It may seem tedious but once you get a few under your belt, you'll be posting images like a crazy Bolter. (Eventually, we'll get a video for all this, we hope.)

You should notice several things.
1. No caption? It is important to put a caption for each picture. There is "caption carryover." If you neglect to put a caption -- in the thread you are on, any image that had a caption which was added in the image that was before your post will "carryover" and appear as a caption for your image(s). Best way to avoid this is to make a caption. OR ... put a blank space (using space bar) in the initial box. All your images will show no caption. Plus, any images coming in a post AFTER your post, will carryover a "blank."
2. The images are listed in the "Attached Files" area in the order that you attached them.
3. There is a trash can on the right side of each listed image that allows you to delete it. Just click on that trash can.
4. The attached images have the names that you gave them. If you want to have a different file name, you should do that before you start your attachment process.
5. The total number of attached files is 10 for most forums. The Gallery Forum has 25. There is also a cumulative size limit. You may not be able to attach ten files.
6. Files are limited to 500 MB, but the software reduces their size to save space on the server. (We have some info coming on how to reduce your image size / dpi.)

POSTING A PICTURE WITH A CAPTION Before you move the image over into the box, you must add the caption for the image. The video shows this! It's easier than you think.
