A high output coil is not nessesary & would probably burn the points. Check the wires with an ohm meter. Resister wires should have no more than 10,000 ohms per foot. It should through a fat blue spark about 1/4 to 1/2 in. If you use it regularly I would install an elec. conv. kit. THen you may want to get the matching high output coil.
