Coilover is correct . Never, ever use any product containing Silicone on any surface you intend to paint. I should have been more specific and stated standard WD40. Standard WD40 does not contain silicone. They do offer a product "WD40 Specialist Spray" that does contain SIlicone and clearly says so. I have used standard WD40 to remove residual adhesives that are often left on the surface after using heat to remove stickers or labels, without issues. I follow up by cleaning the surface using Alcohol 70/30 water mixture.
