I just put this system in my 59 w/235. No resistor needed as the Pertronix system requires 12 volts. The resistor was used to knock down the voltage after the engine started to 6-8 volts to protect the points and condenser. I had the resistor on the firewall and did a bypass on the backside of it so it gives the appearance of originality. It is a great upgrade to go to the Pertronix system, runs so much smoother!
