I think I would be ok running the 22.5 on some steel or al wheels gonna paint/powder-coat black either way. Unless their would be a huge difference in cost of the tires would be going on a 1.5 ton dually.
What year is your 1-1/2 ton truck?
Note, there is a BIG difference between a 22" and a 22.5" tire. The 22" are a light duty truck/suv 4-ply tire, the 22.5" are a BIG truck tire.
