If you've got a couple of weightlifter friends and adequate storage space, pulling the front fenders, grill, and radiator support as a unit is the simplest way to access the engine compartment. The hood can stay put, just raised and supported by a rope or a ratchet strap to the tailgate so you don't get any painful surprises while you're pulling and installing the engine.
